The Spectra® Premium Accessory Kit contains all the recommended replacement parts for your Spectra® Breast Pump. Out of the box, the Spectra® Premium Accessory Kit caters for a single pumper scenario. If you are a double pumper, you will need to purchase a second kit. The manufacturer recommends replacing the kit every 3-6 months.

Q: Do I need any extra Spectra® breast pump parts?
A: If you see any tearing, warping, rips or discoloration on any of your Spectra® breast pump parts, then it's time to replace them. Your breast shields will collect residue over time, can crack, or become discolored depending on how often you pump. These pump parts should generally be replaced every 6 months.
Q: Which parts normally need to be replaced on a Spectra® Breast Pump?
A: To keep your breast pump operating in perfect condition, Spectra® recommends that you should replace pump parts like the membranes (2 weeks to 2 months) duckbill valves (1-3 months), backflow protector (3-6 months), shields (6 months) and tubing (occasionally or by wear and tear measurement).
Q: Do breast pumps in general lose suction capability over time?
A: Yes and this is primarily due to neglect or lack of maintenance. Many women experience a reduction in suction while using their breast pump as the elasticity of the valve membrane wears down causing them to lose suction effectiveness over time. The Spectra® Premium Accessory Kit will aid in keeping your breast pump running properly and effectively.
A: It is recommended that all Spectra® breast pump parts that come in contact with breast milk, such as bottles, valves and breast shields should be cleaned after each use. It is not possible to 100% completely sterilize breast pump parts, even if you boil them. However, sterilization is not necessary to keep these parts safe and sanitary, just regular maintenance.
